Running Through The Garden
Until she herself
Became the deadliest poison
As she grew older
Ooh, until she herself
Became just as fatal
As was her garden
And so you run toward
What you know is wrong
There are too many flowers
To cut down
With all the love I have for your life
For the love I have for your life
Turn around...
Never did I mean to (never did I mean to)
Imprison you (imprison you)
Here in my garden (here in my garden)
Like I am imprisoned (like I am imprisoned)
All the love I have for your life
All the love I have for your life
Turn around (turn around)
Until she herself
Understood her garden
Leaving her heart broken,
No future at all
Until she herself
Became the toxic garden
Always frightened,
No future at all
And so you run towards
What you know is wrong
There are too many flowers
To cut down
With all the love I have for your life
With all the love I have for your life
Turn around...
Never did I mean to (never did I mean to)
Imprison you (imprison you)
Here in my garden (here in my garden)
Like I am imprisoned (like I am imprisoned)
All the love I have for your life
All the love I have for your life
Turn around (turn around)
So you run towards
What you know is wrong
But there are too many flowers
To cut down
With all the love I have for your life
With all the love I have for your life
Turn around...
Running through the garden,
I'm running in brilliant colors
I'm running straight toward, straight toward
What you know is really wrong
Too many flowers here to cut down
For the love I have for your life
Turn around
For the love I have (for the love I have)
For the love I have (for the love I have)
Turn around...

"Rappaccini's Daughter"
This is one of my favorite songs by Stevie, because I am a huge fan of literature. I believe I read somewhere that Stevie wrote this song based on a short story called "Rappaccini's Daughter" which was written by Nathaniel Hawthorne in 1844 concerning a medical researcher in medieval Padua. Dr. Rappaccini, a scientist working in isolation, and he keeps his daugther Beatrice confined to the lush and locked gardens in which experiments involving poisonous plants take place. Giovanni, a young student of medicine, observes Beatrice and falls in love. Eventually, Giovanni sneaks into the forbidden garden to meet his lover, and begins to suffer the consequences of the encounter with the plants - and with Beatrice, who dwells among them and has been rendered both immune to their effects and poisonous to others. In the end, Beatrice dies after being given an antidote by Giovanni.
Love this song
This is one of my all time favorite songs..I don't know what it is about it, but it really resonates with me.. "I'm running in brilliant colors..."
I wish they would perform it, but it was only done on ONE night of the Say You Will tour, and then dropped! :(
